It’s that time of year when we gather everyone together, get a nice big meal, have a drink (or possibly even two) and get the disco started up!

The Kan office party this year was a big success. We even got the guys from our sister company Ullman Sails to boost the numbers and add a little more festive cheer.

It turns out that adding bumper cars to any party is a really, really good idea!

Meet the Team - Karen

What’s your story, how did you get to Kan?

Many years ago, (about 11 now nearly!) I joined Kan. I arrived in an office full of smiling faces, all of whom were willing to show me that a bag is NOT just a bag, as I discovered during my training.

Some days, you could find my colleagues beating their heads against a wall, repeating: “NO! Not all bags are the same!!” In case you can’t tell, promotional goods and bags were a whole new world to me!

I had been in sales for a while before I came to KAN. I was previously in the world of telesales and selling cables. Yes, there is more than one type of cable too! And please be nice to the people in the bank next time you call. Its not their fault, honest its not!

What is your role?

You will find me in the customer service department, which means I try to look after anyone who doesn’t yet know what Kan are amazing at!

I deal with our core products range. They are the products for which we offer the most competitive prices, and we can turn them around in quick lead times.

What is your favourite Kan product?

My favourite core item has to be our luxury paper bags! You can design them to your requirements, print inside and out, foil emboss or deboss and lots more too. They look amazing with some of our extra options. There’s a lot more to them than a one colour print!

What do you like to do outside of work?

I have turned into a bit of a gym bunny, although I don’t look like one yet, it’s a work in progress! I also like to spend time with my grandson and I am quite fond of my daughter too!

What’s your story, how did you get to Kan?

After many years running the operations and logistics for international yacht racing companies, I took on the role of parenthood. After a couple of years of juggling work and children I finally joined the Kan Family! And I’m loving it!

What is your role?

I only started at Kan just over a year ago, so I am still learning, but I am a Key Account Manager looking after some of our clients. I love to help my clients with the projects and try to guide them through the challenges of finding the right product, for the right price, with the right lead time. It’s all in the scope of the project!

What is your favourite Kan product?

Being a bit of an eco-warrior I love our cotton and kraft bags – there a loads of print options, size options and lead times can be great! From small to large quantities anything is possible.

We also do a great range in bamboo USBs and lanyards. What’s not to love?

What do you like to do outside of work?

Mostly running around after 2 kids and a husband! But other than that walking the dog, teaching the kids to sail and generally enjoying living so close to the sea. I guess my colleagues would describe as a little bonkers but loves a challenge. I walked non-stop around the Isle of Wight for charity earlier this year – 69 miles for the un-initiated, all because a friend said it would be a good idea!

What’s your story, how did you get to Kan?

During college I worked at Jane Norman part time before moving to full time when I completed my A Levels. From there I went to work in a hair salon as Assistant Manager/ Receptionist. Working in retail ensured I gained experience in customer service, commercial awareness, working under pressure, time and people management. Looking for something a little bit different I decided to look for a new role and after four years at Kan I haven’t looked back.

What is your role?

My role at Kan is Production Manager. My job is to ensure all the orders we receive are produced correctly. This means careful checking of artwork proofs, ensuring sign off is given on the correct product and chasing the order at each stage to ensure it is on track for the given delivery date. With the help of my colleagues Louise and Tash we ensure the department runs as smoothly as it can.

What is your favourite Kan product?

I would have to say our copse bags. Hand finished to a very high standard they are a perfect solution for a marketing giveaway and with the option of an express service we can have them to you just in time for your event. If you are looking for something a bit more bespoke we have the option to change the handle, material, closure and with added finishes like hot foil, embossing or spot UV you can create a really unique and beautiful bag that people want to carry with them.

What do you like to do outside of work?

In my spare time I enjoy socialising with friends and family, whether it be a night in with a takeaway, going shopping or out for lunch.I like to make the most of my weekends. My boyfriend and I are keen travellers and after visiting Thailand at the end of last year we are hoping to get to Mexico at the start of next year.

Meet the Kan Team - Craig

What’s your story, how did you get to Kan?

Originally from South Africa I moved over to the UK about 7 years ago searching for greener pastures and can safely say I was successful!

My previous roles vary: Area sales manager, sales representative, recruitment, warehouse manager, hospitality. All these roles require people skills, problem solving and negotiation skills which comes in handy working as an account manager in the promo world!

What is your role?

Over the past 5 years at Kan I have grown within the company, taking up different challenges. my current role is account manager and I am also responsible for visiting and keeping in touch with our key clients. With a great base of clients my aim is to get the right product, within the lead time required. This is often a challenge with the always “urgent” email world we live in!

My area of expertise would be the various bag options, lanyards and USBs. That said, working on all kinds of projects requires a good understanding of most promotional products, so I would say I have a good understanding across the board and can offer good advice and solutions to all enquiries.

What is your favourite Kan product?

I would say a good blue tooth speaker or something techy!

The Chimpanzee 02 usb looks amazing when printed full colour, it’s a great way to get your logo out to the client with such a large print area.

Our luxury bags are top end laminates for the high street. There are so many options that you can always make them a great fit for any project. A great quality product for any brand!

What do you like to do outside of work?

I like to think that I’m a sociable guy who enjoys spending time with friends and if the weather is right I’ll make the most of it while it lasts! My colleagues at work would describe me as : Supportive, caring , helpful , jocular, considerate, charismatic 🙂 , prankster and funny.
